Check Your Life Compass

Stephen Covey author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People quotes, "Live your life by a compass not a clock."

If the clock dictates, your life is consumed with the immediate and pressing issues of the moment. Clock life is focused on short-term results.

Life that takes the compass seriously is focused on meaning more than the moment. It is life that sees beyond the immediate and seeks to anticipate rather than respond.

The compass is about trajectory before it is about efficiency, reflection rather than reaction. The compass life considers the journey, not just the daily agenda.

Check Your Life Compass  Far too often, the compass is forgotten in our rush to meet expectations and demands. Many of us have clocks at every corner, but seemingly do not own a compass. As 2020 is coming to a close, and I am sure a lot of us will be glad to end this year, it so much more important this year than ever to, “Check Your Life Compass” . COVID-19 has challenged us in ways we would never had thought possible, lockdown, staying at home week after week, business doing it tough and not seeing family members for days and weeks. As a transitional life coach, I have had the opportunity to work with a number of wonderful people and assist them to navigate through this unique time and help them check their life compass.

As we are trying to get in a mindset that 2021 will be a better year it is time to “Check Your Life Compass.” Is your voyage making you feel stronger, are you heading in the right direction? Are you sure that the destination you’re heading into is going to suit you? Don’t let 2020 (COVID-19) be a life raft floating in a large ocean with no direction hoping you will find land one day. You have your inner map, you can see the stars clearly, pull out your oars and starting rowing, don’t wait for a strong wind to push you along.

-          Decide what direction you want to head.

-          Be clear what you want to do when you get there.

-          What will you learn from your journey?

-          When you reach your destination, what will it look like?

Remember, “The only time you should ever look back is to see how far you have come.”
