Being a Star Trek fan dating back to the original series with Leonard Nimoy as Spock, I have recently started watching the new Star Trek series Discovery. There was always one thing that resonated with me when I watched Star Trek, the Vulcan saying, “Live Long and Prosper”. Being a fictional sci fi show and movies, did the Vulcan’s have it right? Are we just mere earthlings? Can we learn from this? I think we can. I also think it is within our DNA and how we are wired that helps us to continue to improve and change. I’m a corporate refugee!!

Starting at the bottom, working in a call centre twenty years ago, and slowly climbing the corporate ladder to become an executive manager, just to find out I was not enjoying my job or life any more. Companies spruik a work life balance, however the reality is twelve plus hours in the office, working on emails at night just to keep up with the workload. Many of the businesses I worked extremely hard for just to be tossed out due to company restructure and downsizing.
